Photo Galleries are back!

Welcome back another former (standard) feature to the FSF site: The photo gallery.

Actually photo galleries would be the correct expression since we now have to different types of photo/image galleries: Public (clan) galleries and Personal (private) photo galleries. The main difference is the following:

  • Public Galleries: Are side-wide galleries that do not belong to particular members but are maintained and updated by all FSF members. Once a member, elder or trial member creates such a gallery, all the other members may contribute by uploading new images and editing existing ones.
  • Private Galleries: Those galleries, on the other hand, belong to the member who has created it. this means that only this very member has full control over the gallery itself, it's images and the maintenance of both. While other members can still comment and rate the photos, they will not be able to edit the gallery itself or any of its content.

Galleries such as new game images, funny photos or pictures of nice ladies or clan events (lobby party etc.) are best created as "public galleries" while "private galleries" are supposed to be created if you'd like to share some private photos that you want to keep full control of (similar to facebook etc.).

One nice extra feature is the option to re-use any of the pictures that you have uploaded to a gallery within any other content type you are creating:

File 112 This icon within the editor toolbar does not only allow you to upload and use new images for any text. It will also show you the latest pictures that you have uploaded to the site - not matter for which purpose. So by clicking this icon you will be able to use the images that you have uploaded before to e.g. a new gallery. See the screenshot below.

File 111As you can see, the popup window will give me the option to either upload a new image or to simply use an already existing one.

Warning: The gallery system might - of course  - still be buggy and lacking features. If you encounter any problems then please do not hesitate to let me know. Same goes for any feature request although I cannot promise to be able to add everything that might be useful. Best use the Helpline in forums for such posts.
