While beginning to test out a brand new version of our Content Management System (CMS) I accidently deleted the whole of our database without having made a full backup of it beforehand.
I usually do such tests on an FSF-Sandbox-Mirror that I have setup exactly for that purpose: Test changes there (on an old snapshot of the FSF site) before touching the real site. Onb my way to resetting the FSF sandbox I didn't notice I was actally in the admin panel of the "real" site and... well you know the rest already.

Disadvantages: Huge ! Basically every written word so far has been lost 
Everybody will have to create a new account.
Advantages (lol): Hardly any ! Well apart from having a clean and new installation that should have got rid of all the tiny and annoying little problems that naturally occur if after dozens of upgrades and changes to a database created with earlier versions of the site. We possibly will also get to know who actually sees himself as an FSF members by going through that damn resitration process all over again.
Consequences: I definitely will talk with the rest of the staff about doing regular database backups as well since I - obviously - have ceased to be reliable on this department ...
As you can tell the site is currently very limited and offers the most basic functions only at the moment. It is going to take me a few days to put back the pieces bit by bit again (if possible at all). But I am working on it
