MajorGeneral Despair's Gaming History

So, I already posted a little about my self, in the chit chat forum. Hopefully i won't be to redundant, but I would like to give you a little background, in my gaming history. 1st. I like RTS more than FPS. 2nd. The only  FPS games I really like are Star Wars: Battle Front, and (my favorite) Armored Core, asside from military games I like racing games. My favorite, all time RTS is probly C&C Generals(Zero Hour) and Supreme Commander (which i believe is the closest to "strategy" of any RTS), That being said there are a couple of other games I would like to mention before i get into WIC. Sins of Solar Empire and Dow 40K I and II. Sins  also has a compelling strategical aspect, and a lot of customization/upgrades. Where as Dow has an interesting layout on resource gathering/collection and an intimate level of customization, along, with what i beleive to be one of the best story/historical lines of any game. In Dow I they  also had an interesting turn based strategic map aspect similar to RON, C&C 3 Kains Raith, which i liked in dark crusade. Dow II took the intimacy and customization to new level, but sorely lacks in map depth, size and deployable strength. But make no mistake i thought Dow II was probly the best single player missions/game have ever played.

(how long can this be?).

I started my online, peer to peer gaming with red alert 2, and then generals, which i quickly gave up on after the third time of being overwhelmed by 50humpies w/tow after i had just finished building my war factory . Yeah that was enough for me.I quit playing online until end of last year w/C&C 3(tiberium wars), it was much better than my last experience with generals, but still frustrating nonetheless.

Enter WIC, I had read about and saw the release of this game before i had the chance to buy it, so when i could, buy it, i imeadiately did (for my brothers birthday) in late May of 08, still i had had such a bad taste in mouth from generals that i languished to play online, after C&C 3 though, I figured, that this might be better. Things put themselves into a position that I was able to start playing WIC online by Feb or March of 09(i think) it wasn't long though before i started getting frustrated with being on bad/or  against stacked teams. And then school started getting rough, so i took a couple month vacation from wic, and started playing again in late June early july, this time I started listenning/watching to what players were doing, and if it was good, i would save their names and try to play with them, even against them, i would watch what they would do and I would save replays. While WIC has some strategical aspects, (the biggest of which, is probly what role you choose and when and what to deploy/use as your tactical aids), the game is much more tactical in nature and thus requires a large amount of team work. Its my theory that a team of average/good players w/superior team work can anhilate a team of great/awesome players w/inferior team work. And thats probly one of the greatest things about this game. This is also one of the reasons why I love FSF members/players and decided to join and want to be in FSF, again make no mistake, thery are a lot of good and great players out there that i like to play with that are not in this clan. But I have yet to meet a clan that has as many and play as often as FSF (1) and are as fun to play with (2).I have a couple of RTS game ideas/stories that I work on from time to time and all of them have the WIC gui and enviromental interpretations (w/small tweaking and much larger map sizes in mind). Anyways, this is terribly long peice and appologize, if you made it this far and ended up dissapointed. If there is anything that you think needs to be added, cleared up or that you would just like me to answer/respond to , please don't hesitate to ask. thanks :).

Oh, and since this clan is made up of and run by people I make no illusions that there won't be friction, conflict or even problems, (its kind of like a family or marriage),I consider myself by no means to be a good player, although I am trying to be/learn (most days), nor am I a model of exempalary behavior. But for as long as I am in FSF, I will do my best to the best of my ability. The only thing I want to do is to contribute something meaningful.

Well hopefully we can change

Well hopefully we can change that in the future with either SCII or something else, I was always hoping they would make a second RON, with bigger/more spaciaous maps. Thats really my only gripe of RON (at least for my play style) is that the maps were to small, and cramped and you always have to move fast (tiring!!) But other than that most of the other aspects of the game I thoroughly enjoyed. Anyways I look forward to playing something with everyone in this clan, especially if its as a team  :) .

I'm sorry I'm just spoiled

I'm sorry I'm just spoiled with WIC (on the map size thing), even I wish WIC had some bigger maps. But I also understand its really a programming(how they write it and how much time and resources they are willing to spend writing it) and hardware issue (RAM mostly but CPU to for calcs), with why the sizes are the way they are. :) Thanks.
