What do you think Is the latest activity in RoN lobby (on weekends sometimes even more than 100 online !) just a short-term phenomenon caused by the upcoming AW tournament ?
Or is this trend going to last (until RoN 2) ?

i think its the same as in any other competition people came back for money(at least some of them), so after that i dont think there will be much activity like now. btw can i get access to the fsf private forums.
AW syas they will be hosting later toruneys, so maybe RoN will last a little bit longer.

It is not entirely true that FSF has a bad reputation at hosting tourneys. The Mastersleague initiation tourney - imho one of the bigesst if not THE biggest tournament in RoN has been organized entirely by FSF and is being remembered as good fun (if I m not mistaken). There where 32 teams battling over 2 days. So far I think only Saruman from AoI had successfully hosted tournaments of this size before.
well the RoL 100 000 $ tourney had about 56 players participating in them (maybe ~15 who didn't make it in a prelim).
this 740$ RoN tourney has 24 x 4 = 96 players participating in it ^^
so it's definately not only about the money... but it beats me if the community will last all the way till ron 2 (what the hell is it with ron2 anyways?? is there the slightest bit of hint BHG is even thinking about a RoN 2?? or are we all just doing wishful thinking?)
I think the RoL 'desaster' increased the chances for us to see RoN 2 ... and possibly even sooner than originally planned. BHG cannot afford another experiment right now and I am rather optimistic that they are gonna try to milk the well known name RoN now.
If BHG has learned anything from their bad timing of the launch of RoL (i.e. during E3), they better wait and see if the latest Starcraft 2 rumors are true and not release a game at the worst possible time, even worse than E3.
I think StarCraft 2 is a little ways away considering the exspansion of WoW just came out. Course if they wanted to make a huge bankroll and place a monopoly on internet gaming they'd do it within the next year )

definately an online client other then gamespy.....maybe it would have like new units for each nation, new gameplay factor (ex. despot introduced in T&P), new maps, graphics similar to sup com, better team play options, and a good single player campaign.....course i would stll consider this to be a mod of the original RoN.

i agree buy a new game that we all can play as a group.
i have not chosen anything yet becuase my computer cant play those games you guys are playing i dont care which game u choose just pick one that doesnt require a good graphics card and a mess load of memory to play.
I want something with massive maps, thousands of units, nothing past trebuchet in terms of technology (ie. older civilisation) and, a slightly random slant whereby there could be an earthquake, flooding, forest fire, wild animals attacking or whatever - so that if I am being slaughtered (as per usual) then there will always be hope.
Yes Flash that sounds nice but it isnt RON maybe RON2 could have them things but start at ancient age. Thats what I love about RON it goes through the ages. I tell anyone that will listen to play RON. Because of the fact it goes through the ages I have learnt some history from RON.
What we need to do is get together with all the RON clans and lobby BHG for RON2.

Good question Zorn. I guess tournament is a good idea. Everybody whos remember MoR time knows it was a reason of RoN popularity phenomenon.Now everybody play for fun,its nice,but less some purpose.Challenge is an engine of all disciplines,games also.And tournament gives that purpose.And i dont think its only matter of money. offtopic
